Muscle Relaxants
Muscle relaxants are not actually a classification of drugs, but instead a group of various drugs that separately has a general relaxing effect on the body. These drugs don’t deal specifically with the muscles, but they function centrally (control the brain) and are more like a whole body relaxant.
Usually, muscle relaxants are given as prescriptions when back pain first starts, temporarily to help with low back pain caused by muscle contractions.
Carisoprodol (Soma): There are various kinds of muscle relaxant drugs that are frequently taken as a remedy for pain in the lower back that is connected to muscle spasms. The dose to take is 350mg of this drug every eight hours when it is necessary for muscle contractions. Soma is usually prescribed temporarily and may be addictive, specifically if it is taken at the same time as alcohol or another drug that affects the brain.
